You’re unlikely to see a job description without these words: “Must have excellent communication skills.” But have you ever found yourself wondering what that means—or how to demonstrate you’re a good communicator?

In this course, you’ll learn how to define communication, the types of communication we use daily, how to choose the right delivery method for your message, and how to remove barriers to having it understood.

Additionally, you'll explore how effective communication plays a crucial role in your work or studies, from collaborating with others on projects to engaging in meaningful discussions with instructors.

This course will prepare learners to communicate effectively in the learning environment, using various modes, methods, and tools. It will cover topics such as verbal and non-verbal communication, listening skills, communication mediums, and common barriers to communication. 

The course will cover:

1. An understanding of what communication is.

2. Why communication skills matter.

3. Why communication fails, and 5 common barriers.

4. Choosing the right communication medium.

5. How to use and develop verbal, non-verbal, written and listening skills.
